Once upon a time there was a little girl who loved shoes.
She would risk bumping into something as she walked because she was fascinated with the way the shoes on her feet looked. If she passed a window or mirror, she would admire her shoe clad feet. Like many small children she would clomp around the house in her mother’s shoes, her aunt’s shoes and even her grandmother’s shoes. The brighter, the higher heeled, the fancier, the more attracted to them she would be.
“When I grow up, I will be able to share your shoes!” she would say.
The most exciting shopping trips always involved buying new shoes. The little girl always hoped for the prettiest most fancy shoes in the store even though she was often required to choose suitably practical ones.
As the little girl grew into a young woman, her love affair with shoes only strengthened. Stilettos were the hottest choice for a while, the higher and spikier the better even for workdays! Later there were more practical choices but always with a little point of difference or a touch of extra elegance.
Anytime she could, the young woman would while away her free time gazing into store windows with all those divine pairs imagining how she would build outfits to go with the shoes or what occasions would suit different styles. There was never a limit to the number of shoes she could enjoy wearing and owning. Always selecting the prettiest, the brightest, the most elegant or the styles that had a little bit of ‘je ne sais quoi’. A great outfit, to her mind began with the shoes!
To this day the Shoe Queen (as she has become referred to by some) never tires of shoes. Whether it’s buying new ones for herself, browsing stores, or browsing the Web. The best (or worst) tool for a Shoe Queen to have access to. Her passion is only enhanced by now curating for others, a selection of fashionable women’s footwear from some of the best designers and manufacturers around the world and NZ. Some are exclusive in the BOP to her store here in downtown Tauranga, The Shoe Lounge, Est’ 2024.
